Outstanding stability

The VT-1150+ boasts exceptional stability thanks to its heavy, monolithic Meehanite cast bed. This robust foundation supports high-performance main and feed drives, wide ball screws, a two-speed spindle gearbox, and a sturdy travelling column. Together with the smaller VT-950+, it ranks among the most stable and powerful machines in its category.

The heavy Meehanite cast bed and wide bearing surfaces of the box guideways effectively channel cutting vibrations into the damping bed, where they are absorbed. For this reason, the machine bed and travelling column are exceptionally massive, weighing 25 tonnes for the VT-1150+ and 15 tonnes for the VT-950+, making them the heavyweights among vertical lathes.

A wide range of gearbox options allows optimal customization to your application. For heavy-duty cutting and tough, hard materials, our high-torque spindles ensure efficient machining.

Tool magazine with Capto interface

To minimize frequent setups or handle workpieces requiring numerous tools, an optional tool magazine can be added for automatic exchange of stationary and very long tools.

High dynamism with air-floating technology

Despite their substantial mass, the VT-1150+ and VT-950+ achieve dynamic machining with minimal non-productive time thanks to a rapid traverse speed of 24 m/min. This is enabled by Hwacheon’s advanced air-floating technology, which pressurizes the box guideways with compressed air, significantly reducing stick-slip effects and break-loose torque at startup.

Both machines are available with Fanuc or Siemens controls.
