Hard Turning

Hard turning lathes are an important element in spectrum of machines used in modern-day industry and machine manufacture. Surface and dimensional accuracies of up to 0.1 µm with deviations in size of less than two µm are commonly required and demand an especially stable machine construction and more drive power.

Alongside cylindrical grinding, hard turning is now the most popular process used for the precision finishing of hard materials and machine parts.

Highly robust lathes with flat guides for heavy cutting

The HI-TECH series is distinguished by its solid machine beds, wide flat guides and powerful drives. It is ideal for tough, hard materials with high cutting volumes and precision requirements. It can be used to machine workpieces for 200–812 mm chucks with lengths of up to 5 m and weights of up to 4 t.

Extremely robust vertical lathes for continuous use

The lathes with horizontal spindles are designed for continuous operation. Heavy monolithic cast iron beds with box guideway based travelling columns guarantee a stable cutting process. Mirror-image models are available, allowing two machines to be joined together. For workpiece diameters of 2 m and above, a portal-based design is available (carousel lathe).
